The Gene Autry Museum

The Gene Autry Museum in Los Angeles provides an amazing view into the history of the westward movement in the 1800’s.  Permanent and changing exhibits relate to the challenges and accomplishments of those brave souls who made the treacherous trip to California while confronting the powers of nature, outlaws, and tribes.  Plus many items of the “Singing Cowboy”, and one-time Los Angeles Angel baseball owner are displayed.

Keeping in the spirit of American history, Forest Lawn Memorial Park located in the nearby Hollywood Hills is dedicated to America’s heritage with the Court of Liberty displaying a replica of the Liberty Bell, bronze statues of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, a mosaic, “The Birth of Liberty”, and a bronze memorial plaque to 9/11 measuring 40 feet by 5 feet.  Very poignant.
